Wyoming native Mike Draper is a Journeyman Smith in the American Bladesmith Society and an accomplished custom maker whose style includes everything from tough tactical folders to investment-quality art knives. His first collaboration with Spyderco reflects both ends of that spectrum to yield practical, highly functional folding knife executed with exceptional craftsmanship.
The modified drop-point blade of the Mike Draper Folder is made from VG-10 stainless steel and features a full-flat grind for a superior balance of strength and low-friction edge geometry. Its easily accessible Trademark Round Hole™ proudly proclaims it as a Spyderco product and allows swift one-handed opening with either hand. The blade is supported by a sturdy Walker LinerLock mechanism that is finished flush with the handle slot to prevent unintentional closure.
The Mike Draper Folder’s eye-catching handle is constructed with two solid titanium scales that are intricately CNC machined to produce a stunning spider web pattern and a subtle surface texture. Portions of the pattern are then colorized to contrast boldly against the matte-finished titanium to further highlight the design. The handle flares at both ends to create a highly functional integral guard and a butt hook and includes a solid, full-length back spacer for additional strength. A custom pocket clip follows the flow of the handle contour and design to provide immediate access via right-side, tip-up carry.
