Product Type:

A bold fusion of performance engineering and modern industrial design.
The Spyderco Edgerati takes inspiration from the iconic Maserati “birdcage” sports car, translating its lightweight strength and structural elegance into a high‑performance cutting tool. Its solid aircraft‑grade aluminum handle is precision‑machined and hardcoat anodized, offering exceptional durability, a secure non‑slip texture, and a striking aesthetic.

The full‑flat‑ground CPM S30V blade delivers excellent edge retention and slicing performance, available in both PlainEdge and SpyderEdge formats. Spyderco’s Compression Lock ensures secure, reliable operation, while the textured index‑finger choil enhances control during detailed cutting tasks. Finished with a reversible tip‑up pocket clip, the Edgerati blends style, ergonomics, and cutting‑edge functionality—an ideal choice for collectors and enthusiasts seeking something truly distinctive.

The Edgerati, in my mind, combines some of the best elements of 2 classic Spydercos: the Para Military 2 & the Shaman. From the former, it takes the pointy low drop-point/modified clip point blade shape & relatively slicey geometry given the substantial blade stock thickness. And from the latter, it inherits the robust build, roomy handle, generous forward finger choil, and flat spine—a godsend for those who aren't fans of the dramatic thumb ramp found in many Spyderco designs (a.k.a. the "Spydie-hump"). My specimen did have some noticeable lockstick out of the box, but the lock surfaces wore in after just one day of heavy use at work, so it wasn't an issue for very long. I also had some concerns that the truss-like nature of the handle would make the Edgerati a pocket lint collector, but that wasn't the case at all in actual use. The feel of the handle does take some getting used to, but it's not uncomfortable—just unusual. As for the overall look of the knife, I think it serves up a lot of visual interest but I can see how it may appear a bit tacky for some. All in all, an excellent full-size Spyderco suitable for use as a proper work folder. Maybe not a model I would recommend as a first Spyderco for someone new to the brand, but for the long-time Spydie fan who wants something with a bit of flash to spice up their work knife rotation, the Edgerati offers both fashion and function in spades.
