Salt Series Strength, Iconic Shaman Design
The Spyderco Shaman Salt builds on the proven success of one of Spyderco’s most iconic designs, refined through loyal customer feedback. While its handle shape and ergonomics follow the spirit of the Native, the Shaman’s construction and lock mechanism are distinctly different. The 3D-machined G10 scales are contoured for a secure, comfortable grip and feature Spyderco’s Caribbean Bi-Directional Texture pattern. Nested skeletonized stainless steel liners reinforce the structure and form the foundation of the patented Compression Lock, located in the spine of the handle for safe, one-handed closing without placing fingers in the blade’s path. Its 3.58" CPM-MagnaCut spear point blade, finished in black DLC, delivers superior cutting performance, corrosion resistance, and durability. A four-position pocket clip ensures versatile carry, making the Shaman Salt a powerhouse cutting tool in Spyderco’s Salt Series.

If you thought the S30V Shaman was a nice comfortable knife, then I agree you are 100% on the money; but it just got a little bit better with the Magnacut blade steel.
Now; to be honest some may not like the new textured scales, some complain that they can create hot spots, I have man hands so... We see these scales on other SALT series knives like the Military 2 and I personally love the feel, not a single complaint. For those that may not appreciate the scales its dressed in, we have to remember what type of environment these knives are primarily meant for, "Salt" and this knife is extremely grippy in wet conditions and you will certainly not loose it over the side of your boat, nor do you need to worry about it rusting if you forget about in your tackle box for months and months on end. Lastly, if you know anything about Magnacut blade steel you know that it can hold an edge even under hard use and that's a big plus whether in the field or on a boat in the middle of the ocean. No sharpening required while you're using it, you can sit back relax and touch it up sitting in front of the camp fire or any down time.
I highly recommend this knife or any of the Salt Magnacut series blades or the LC200-N blades but not the H1 or H2 blades.

Your thoughts and explanations are much appreciated.

I've been using the Shaman Salt as a substitute for a small outdoors utility fixed-blade when doing trail maintenance & it's performed rather well in that role. What sets this version of the Shaman apart is that it is made of materials optimised for corrosion resistance. It retains the original Shaman's hand-filling handle shape while adding extra texture for improved grip in wet conditions, and it still has the Compression Lock which provides enough lock strength for tough (but reasonable) small outdoors knife tasks. All that said, it also retains the aspects that make the Shaman a polarising design for certain folks such as a blade stock thickness and relatively obtuse grind that could be considered overkill in a folder, as well as the little protruding finger choil nubbin that annoys some people when closing the knife (it doesn't bug me, though). And while it is robust enough to serve in place of a small fixed-blade in most situations requiring one, the fact that it still has moving parts & relies on precise locking interfaces means the possibility exists for its mechanisms to get gummed up in extremely muddy & gritty environments (though it can easily be cleaned by dunking a few times in a body of water, even a brackish or saltwater one, without having to worry about rust). All in all, for my money, this is the Shaman design executed to its full potential as a hard use/outdoors folder, and the closest one can currently get to a folding knife that can serve as a true fixed-blade replacement in the outdoors.
